If you already spring cleaned your home, it's now time to focus your cleaning attention on your car. Use these tips to get your car spotless just in time for spring.

How to Deep Clean Your Vehicle This Spring

If the winter has left your car looking less than great, put it on your spring cleaning list! Now is a great time to get rid of all grime the winter storms left on your car. Not sure where to start? This post can help steer you in the right direction.

Wipe Down Interior Surfaces

Before getting to work on the outside of your car, start with its interior. Grab a damp washcloth and wipe down the interior surfaces, including the dashboard, steering wheel, doors, the controls, and the center console. Pay extra attention to the cupholders since spills are bound to happen in these. Once you've removed the dust and any stuck on grime, focus your attention on the windows and windshield. Use a gentle cloth to remove the dust from these areas and then wipe them down using a glass cleaner. Later on, once your car's exterior has been washed, you can use this same glass cleaner to clean the windows and windshield from the outside.

Vacuum

Now that you've managed to remove some of the dust from your car's interior, it's time to vacuum up the rest. Grab your vacuum and keep its attachments handy. Remove the floor mats from your car and set them aside for now. Focus on vacuuming up crumbs, dirt, dust, and other debris that may be hanging out on your seats, on the carpet, and underneath your seats. Once you've gotten rid of all this debris, it's time to work on your mats. Shake them off to get rid of debris on the surface, and then use your vacuum to suck up as much dust as possible. Next, give them a good wash and get them as clean as possible. Once they're dry, place them back their spot.

Clean out the Trunk

No one wants to go digging through their trunk, but it's a must if you want to really get your car clean. Start by removing any and all items you have stored in your trunk. Winter items like winter sports equipment and your ice scraper can be stored somewhere else until the next winter arrives. This will help you keep a tidier trunk and will reduce the weight you're carrying around. Next, decide what items can be thrown away, such as empty fluid bottles or old water bottles. Once you're left with only items you need to have in your trunk, set them aside as you vacuum and clean your trunk. Once you're all done with your cleaning, place the items back in their spot. As you work on getting your car looking a bit cleaner, don't forget to also pay attention to its systems. To ensure that your car's engine stays clean and healthy, give your car a synthetic oil change. If you need help picking the right oil for your needs, contact Advanced Filtration Technologies, Inc. at (701) 572- 3780. They can recommend products like AMSOIL Oil's Signature Series 0W-40 Synthetic Motor Oil.

Wash Your Tires

If you changed your regular tires out for winter tires last season, now is the time to put them back. Winter tires can wear out faster on warmer roads, so store these away until next winter. If you used all season tires during the winter, they probably got a bit grimy and dirty after driving through the winter roads. Because of this, they will need a bit more attention. Grab a soft brush, some water, and a gentle cleaner to scrub down your tires. Get the tread and wheels really clean so that you can assess their condition more effectively. If your tires suffered some damage over the winter or are now very worn, a new set isn't a bad idea.

Get a Car Wash

Now that everything is looking clean, it's time to give your car a thorough wash. You can opt for a professional wash or do it yourself at home. Use a gentle cleaner that is made for car exteriors and a gentle sponge. Once your car's body is spotless and dry, focus some extra attention on getting your windows, windshield, and lights bright and shiny. Don't forget to also apply a new coat of wax over your car's paint. This will help protect it from corrosive substances like spring showers and the sun's intense rays.
